hot damn.
so tonight i tried something i’ve been wanting to try for a long time but never had the time or gust to do it – bikram yoga. for those of you who don’t know what that is, it’s yoga done in a room that is about 110 degrees. why might someone want to do that, you ask? well it’s supposed to make your muscles extra stretchy, as well as release toxins in your body through sweating. i went with my friend Sally, both of us not only hot yoga virgins, but yog- in-general virgins.
as we pull up, the last class is letting out. girl after girl with soaking wet hair, red faces and sweat soaked clothes. guy after guy with nothing but shorts on (p.s. grossss). mmmkay. so we’re gonna do this. we get a mat and head into the room. the windows were open but it still felt about 85 degrees off the bat. there are ceiling fans, but i’m pretty sure that is just to keep the air moving so you don’t have to smell the strangers next to you. ok so far. we sit on our mats and waterbottle ready, we wait for the class to begin.
i could go on for hours about my experience, but here are the highlights. as soon as she shut the door and all the windows for class to start, that place shot up to over a hundred in no time. i was expecting a lot of stretching on the ground and whatnot. nope. the whole first half (45 minutes!) was all standing doing various balancing poses, weird breathing and me nearly falling on my face. i actually didn’t do half bad, because i really didn’t want to fall over, pass out or throw up in front of all these people, strangers or not. it felt like i was getting a sunburn, but there was no sun. then the sweat came. it had been there the whole time, but now it was going places. down my back, down my forehead, and worst of all, in between my bewbs.
i starting seeing stars at the very last pose. thank god it was over. 90 minutes of utter insanity. i highly recommend it. i felt amazing afterwards and wish i had a million bucks so i could afford to go all the time. we’ll see how i feel tomorrow – i might bite my tongue.
I’m so proud of you for losing all the baby weight and working out like you do. Now move to IL, so you can motivate me to get off my ass!

I tried hot yoga a few times with a friend last year…HOT AS HELL! Great workout, and don’t think I’ve ever been so thirsty in my life. I also don’t think a shower ever felt as good as it did afterwards…
Are you sore today? :)

Wow, that is pretty amazing. Not sure that I could do it, but you just made me want to try it.
