won’t you (NOT) be my neighbor
i’m in a mood mr. rogers wouldn’t be very proud of. yesterday we got new neighbors and i’m already not a fan.
we have been VERY lucky with neighbors in the 3+ years that we’ve lived here. the first people were a husband and wife, and the guy worked in portland and she would go there every weekend. during the week she worked and was barely ever home and when she was she was quiet. they sold to a really nice girl whom we got along with and even invited to our get-togethers. she spent the majority of her time at her boyfriends house and worked, so we rarely heard or saw her. right when harper was born, she put the place up for rent because she was basically paying a mortgage on a house she didn’t live in. we were bummed because we knew she was the perfect neighbor. it took 6 months for the place to go (and we still aren’t sure if these are renters or buyers, she was trying to do either or) but the dreaded day finally happened yesterday.
if it sounds like we were not stoked on new neighbors, it’s cause we aren’t – the walls in these townhouses are pretty thin and we knew if ‘regular’ people lived there, we’d be able to hear everything.
i woke up to them moving in, but i thought it was the painters walking around on the roof (who were supposed to be here 3 weeks ago). nope. spent the rest of the day hearing them clang about (don’t get me wrong, they were moving, it’s loud and i get that). in the evening i went to change harpers dipe and thats when we heard it – the little dog. just yapping away. in the room that butts up to harpers nursery. like they locked it in there while they were gone. i mean, this thing wasn’t stopping to breathe. just YAP YAP YAP. i get immediately annoyed because a) my kid sleeps in there and b) our dogs don’t bark.
tonight it barked for about 3 hours straight. the entire time they were gone. oh yes, i know when they leave and come based on the fact that i can hear them talking.
i am BEYOND bummed. (and have a feeling my newest label will be used often) :(

That suuuuucks! We lived in an apartment prior to the townhouse we are in now. Our neighbor below us was LOUD. Music was loud, tv was loud, he was loud, and he had grandkids that came to visit who were very misbehaved, running around, throwing toys, just loud. People should just teach their kids to be quiet in apartments! Anywho, it was rough, and yappng dogs are the WORST! Hang in there, and I hope it gets better!

That is just the WORST! Craig turned in his 2 week notice at his apartment because a new neighbor has a drum set in the room that shares the wall with his bedroom. He says the guy likes to play it between midnight and 3am! Is there a season for obnoxious neighbors? Cuz this must be it.
