relapse

December 8, 2009

W ell i suppose it happens once or twice to every addict (my addiction being to laziness). today, i am NOT getting dressed. i did however get dressed for 5 days in a row. saturday – went to the festival of trees with GG, sunday – shopped with GG and monday – shopped for 7 hours with Bree. these all required getting dressed and i swear i complied (just ask the ladies that had to be seen with me). today however, i am boycotting. after 7 hours of dealing with the public yesterday in a mall that i once sang the praises of for it’s family lounge, i now feel like revoking my applause because they had NO decent food product for little ones. out of all the places in the food court, ONE had milk and ONE had a kids menu. i ended up getting some noodles for her at a place and immediately regretted giving them money after i asked if they had milk and was almost laughed at (this was after they looked at me like i was crazy for asking if they had kid sized portions or a kids menu). luckily i had snacks in the diaper bag so i could put together something that poorly resembled lunch for the kiddo, but i spent the rest of the day feeling like a pretty inadequate mother. buying myself really pretty things helped me feel better, but not all the way.

to make a long story short, i was so exhausted/guilty/wanting to punch people in the mouth by the time i got home, i decided that under no circumstances was i going to get dressed today. so here i am, in flannel polar bear pants, a thermal shirt (i did put a bra on though, so i half win? i mean that would make my operation: wear a bra mission complete, would it not?), sweater socks and messy hair. and it feels great. i’m probably not going to put Harper in real clothes either. i mean it’s almost 1 pm and she is still in her jammies so why dirty an outift, right?

oh, and i am fully justifying this to myself (and now you) with the following: i got dressed for 5 days straight, and we will call that my ‘work week’. today is my ‘saturday’. i can lounge around if i wanna.

Your justifications actually make perfect sense to me. There are definitely Saturdays when I don’t get “dressed” dressed. 5 days in a row IS your work week (and since you’re a SAHM and one might assume you want your “ready to be seen in public” days to overlap with the days that non SAHPs have available to do stuff….!) so yeah. You’re totally good.

Besides which you have definitely NOT defaulted on Operation Wear A Bra. Because you’re wearing one.

H doesn’t need to get dressed. She is probably lovin chilling in her jammies. Now I want to go get my kid and put her in jammies because they’re so cute. Post a pic of jammie wearing Harper!! Do it!

I can’t get over the fact that you were able to go shopping for 7 hours with a baby! WTH?! I am soooo very jealous. Harper has the best personality in the world. Any of my kids would’ve been pullin’ crap off racks and throwin’ cheetos on the ground in 5 seconds. Hope you got some fun clothes :)
