stats and shots

November 2, 2009

today the nugget had her 12 month well visit. it’s safe to say that she was the only well child there. i don’t think i’ve ever clung to her so hard as i did in that waiting room swarming with infected kids wearing masks and looking miserable. i think i purelled (might have just made up a word) my hands 30 times in the dr.s office. thought about giving H a bath in it even.

dr. lavinder seemed pretty stoked to get away from the sick kids for a while and see “miss harper”. she gave H a book about baby animals and we discussed the h1n1 vaccine. they had gotten it this morning and while i was planning on skipping it, i decided to get it for her because a) they had it and b) dr recommended it and that is why we pay her : to take care of our baby. not to mention seeing all those sick kids and their worried moms. overall, our munchkin is doing amazing and is healthy as can be. here are her stats:

19lb 11oz (25% percentile)

27.75 inches (10% percentile)

18 inch noggin (50% percentile)

after some rather concerned looks from me, she assured me H is doing great. it’s just that her measurments coupled with the fact that she is still sporting 9 month clothes (and seriously, still some 6 monthers) is prolonging my fear of her being some sort of gnome. just kidding. but seriously, we have a little biscuit on our hands!

she did pretty well for most of the visit, though it is getting very hard to keep her in line. she chewed on her shoe for a while, but got pretty irritated that i wouldn’t let her down to play on the swine-flu infected ground. the shots were by far the worst yet, and i can imagine they will only get worse the older she gets. this was the first time she had to be restrained which was really hard for me to be a part of. she got 4 shots and cried the cry where her face turns bright purple and no sound exits the mouth for waaay too long. except this time i had to hold her arms so she wouldn’t try to fight off the nurse so she was looking at me like “whyyyyyyyyyyyy are you doing this to me evil woman, you’re supposed to be my mommmmmmy!!!”. i hope the nurse didn’t see my tears, because she really felt awful already. what a crap job, btw. just shooting kids with needles all day. ugh. luckily she recovered quickly and had a good day of napping and playing with all of her new toys. yay for healthy babies!november 031

no worries…if h is a gnome…e is a giant…she is almost 7 months and towered at 27 inches for her 6 month. (am thinking she is already taller now) she did not get the height from me…so you can imagine the hilarity of me carrying her around…h is the cutest little biscuit. (love her dress) you have officially made me fear shots with an older more aware babe.
i think we may have the same crib…where did you get your teething rail covers?

I always dreaded taking my 3 kids under the age of 3 to get their shots. Oh the tears!!! Mine along with theirs. You would think by the time Scot came along I would be calloused and hardened to the whole thing. Not so. That’s why I completely understand! Glad to see that Harper is a very healthy little nugget. Hopefully, the shots won’t leave her sore and cranky in the upcoming hours.

    Mandy,

Don’t worry about Harper being petite. She’ll shoot up before you know it. As long as the doctor isn’t worried, you shouldn’t be either. She’ll still hold her own against Cole – he’s 12 lb 14 oz!

Having 4 shots at once must have been really trumatic and H probably didn’t feel good either. Give her a big hug and kiss from UB and I. Look at those little toes!!!! I could just nibble on them.

    We love you,
    Uncle Bobby & Auntie
