good day.

February 5, 2009

today was nice. the weather was gorgeous and i couldn’t wait to get out of the house and run some errands. i headed to tacoma to hit up michaels, babies r’ us and tar-jay.

at michaels, i was picking up supplies for a new project i’m working on (stay tuned. Jess, if you’re reading this, your woodland art work inspired me!) and had Harper in the cart in her carseat. she had just eaten, so she was all smiles and squeals as we checked out. the old lady behind the counter and i had this conversation:

rude lady: “oh what a gorgeous baby!”
me: “thanks”
rude lady: *grabbing Harper’s feet* “your toes are cold! yes they are!” (words will never fully express how much this gets on my nerves – BABIES HANDS AND FEET ARE COLD. THEIR CIRCULATION IS NOT FULLY FUNCTIONING YET AND THEIR FEET AND HANDS ARE NO INDICATION OF THEIR ACTUAL BODY TEMPERATURE. sorry.)
rude lady: “her eyes are just beautiful.”
me: “she looks just like her daddy”.
rude lady: “well then you got very lucky.”

really? cause i’m just so hideous?
anyways, i picked up a bouncer for 26.99 at target (my condolences to the lady who made a sad face as i took the last one off the shelf) and a cute valentines outfit for Harper. the weather was sooo nice, it made me very excited for spring and summer.

update (8:29pm): so i’ve realized what the lady probably meant was that since Harper looks just like her daddy, that i am lucky for being married to such a handsome guy. so, sorry michaels check out lady. i will however, not change her name from rude lady, because she still said my baby’s feet were cold, when she was in fact sweating. i bid you adeau.

:) You crack me up, and you are gorgeous, no matter what rude lady meant. And I applaud you for not slapping rude lady for touching Harper. I might have gone nuts.
